If you're feeling a little hole in your heart where the Southeastern Harp Weekend would have been this fall, don't despair! Instead, come join us in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest for Harp Seattle, running October 7-9, 2016. While we may not enjoy quite the same sunshine and fall leaves that Asheville does, there is plenty of warmth and color to be found in our cozy, instrument-filled store and school, in the surrounding artsy Fremont neighborhood, and in the welcoming smiles of the friendly Seattle harp community. Come play with us!
Harp Seattle, formerly known as the Dusty Strings Harp Symposium, is a popular every-other-year event, which brings together harpists from the Northwest and all over for a weekend of workshops, concerts, jam sessions and fun harp community. This will be our 12th year, and we are excited to be featuring internationally renowned harpists Park Stickney, Kim Robertson, Maeve Gilchrist and Nicholas Carter. They will be joined by a wealth of local harp talent, including Harper Tasche, Laurie Riley, Molly Bauckham and Cathy Madden. These fabulous instructors are designing a wide variety of workshops, with something to inspire you no matter what your playing level is. Stay tuned here for the full workshop schedule.
There will also be two world-class concerts, which are included in the registration and open to the public. The Friday night concert will feature Kim Robertson and Nicholas Carter, and the Saturday night concert will be shared by Park Stickney and Maeve Gilchrist. Additional tickets will be available closer to the concert dates. If you're not excited enough yet, check out the videos below!
Don't miss your chance to peek behind the scenes at our harp and hammered dulcimer building shop! The tour, led by Dusty Strings owner and founder Ray Mooers, will happen on Friday, October 7th from 10am to noon. See how these fabulous instruments are made and soak up some of the company's 36-year history. When Ray shows you the very first Dusty Strings harp, you won't believe how far we've come!
Registration is $295 before June 1st or $345 after June 1st. It includes an all-access pass to the weekend's workshops, concerts and gatherings, but does not include food, travel or accommodations. Register online or by calling the store at (206) 634-1662.
